Volunteering options

There are many different volunteering options available, including working in the night shelter kitchen, welcoming guests at the Winter Beds Project, or even becoming a charity Ambassador.

We make every effort to align individual interests and skills with the opportunities we have. You can choose to volunteer as much or as little time as you wish; some positions require a regular commitment each week, while others offer more flexibility.

We meet with all our volunteers before they start to discuss each volunteer’s specific role and responsibilities, and ensuring volunteers have a clear understanding of their tasks. It also allows us to address any questions or concerns they may have before officially joining our volunteer team. We offer thorough training and induction sessions for every volunteer, ensuring each volunteer has the necessary skills and knowledge to volunteer confidently.

Volunteers at the night shelter work in teams of two, which promotes teamwork and support. Additionally, there are always a minimum of two staff members on-site at the night shelter to provide additional guidance as needed.

Due to the nature of our operations and the high demands during volunteer shifts, we are only able to accept volunteers who can work independently and manage tasks with minimal supervision. Volunteers must be over 18 and able to demonstrate a clear understanding of professional boundaries and safeguarding principles when working with vulnerable adults.

If you are under 18 we encourage you to explore our fundraising section for ways to get involved. You will discover various opportunities and creative ideas on how you can make a positive impact through volunteering your time in this way.

Restocking shelves with new food donations

People who are organised, reliable, and able to work independently

Those happy working in a storage environment rather than in a guest-facing role
