I’m worried about a rough sleeper
If you’re concerned about a rough sleeper in the St Albans district, you can help by reporting them to StreetLink.
Simply complete the form on the StreetLink link below, and your information will be forwarded to the Outreach team at Open Door and St Albans & District Council homelessness team. These teams make every effort to locate the individual within 24 hours with repeat visits if the person is not found to offer support.
When completing the form, it will be useful to give as much information as possible, to help the Outreach Team locate and support the individual. Please try to include:
- Street names, door numbers, and nearby landmarks or shops.
- For alerts in parks or building blocks, the description must be precise, specifying which entrance to use and any identifying features nearby.
- It’s crucial that the location description aligns with the map location in the Streetlink form.
- A What3Words location is highly beneficial (What3words can be used via the free mobile app and the online map at what3words.com)

Providing a clear description of the individual is essential for the outreach teams to recognise those who are sleeping rough.
- Include a detailed description, including their clothing, colour of their sleeping bag, brand of shoes, and other distinguishing traits such as height and ethnicity.
- Include information regarding the individual’s welfare, such as their physical or mental health status, learning difficulties, or if they are a single female.
- Contact details for the individual who is sleeping rough.
- A clear timeframe indicating when the person was at that location.
- If you interacted with the individual, include details such as how long they have been there, whether they move around, and if English is their first language.
